Exploring Career Paths in Educational Psychology

Find out what career paths lead into Educational Psychology

Green Heart and Old Joe - lots of green space, trees and paths

As a second-year student, I’ve started to think about my future career and the internship opportunities that could help me get there. Before I dove into studying Psychology in Education, I was passionate about getting involved with youth and children’s charities, and I have some relevant work experience from my home country. While I’ve always had that idea in my mind, my studies have opened up a whole new world of career possibilities related to my degree, helping me clarify what I want to do.

Currently, I’m exploring the role of an Educational Psychologist. It seems like a perfect fit for me since it involves working closely with schools and students—places that are important for nurturing kids. My course does a fantastic job of blending Education and Psychology, allowing us to explore both fields and figure out what resonates with us the most, which has really helped me in my journey. In our Psychology classes, we don't just learn the theory; we also get to apply it in real educational contexts, which I think is fantastic for preparing us for our future careers.

I have to admit, it can be a bit nerve-wracking to face the uncertainty of graduation. Not knowing exactly which direction to take or what job opportunities will be out there can add a bit of anxiety. However, I’m also excited about all the different career paths that could be waiting for me.

As I navigate this transition, I remind myself that every challenge is an opportunity for growth. I’m really looking forward to embracing the unknown and building my skills in a practical setting. This journey is just getting started, and I can’t wait to see where it leads!
