My Experience with the Fitness and Wellbeing Society

When I first arrived at the University of Birmingham, I knew I wanted more than just lectures and library sessions—I wanted to connect with like-minded people and make the most of my time here. That’s what led me to join the Fitness and Wellbeing Society. From the very first event, I felt welcomed by a friendly group of people who, like me, valued both health and happiness.

What attracted me most was the variety of activities—whether it was group workouts, mindfulness sessions, or just casual meetups, there was always something to help me de-stress and stay active. University life can be overwhelming at times, and this society became my go-to space to take a breather and have fun outside of my studies.

Being part of the Fitness and Wellbeing Society has truly shaped my university experience. It has given me a sense of community and helped me find a much-needed balance between academics and personal wellbeing. I’ve met people from different courses and backgrounds, all with the shared goal of maintaining a healthy and positive lifestyle.

One of my favourite memories is the campus tour at the start of the year. As someone who was nervous about meeting new people, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But the tour turned out to be the perfect icebreaker! We explored the university, learned quirky facts about campus landmarks, and had some great conversations along the way. By the end, I left feeling inspired and excited for the year ahead.

If you’re starting university and wondering whether to join a society, my advice is to go for it! It’s one of the best ways to meet people, try new things, and make your university experience unforgettable.
