From Japan to Birmingham
Shaping My Future in Education
Shaping My Future in Education

I decided to study in the MA Education (leadership) at UoB because I knew that I would learn not only about what goes on in the school, but also its links with society. I find it meaningful to learn about a wide range of topics, from the latest events in education to topics from all over the world. It is also a great opportunity to meet students and teachers from all over the world and discover something new every day.
The best thing about choosing the University of Birmingham was that I felt that the teachers cared about their students and understood our international and diverse backgrounds. Also, meeting friends from all over the world gave me even more confidence in my choice. I also benefit from the lectures and seminars in the MA Education (Leadership) course, where I learn about education not only in the UK, but in many other countries. Hearing new ideas and understanding different perspectives on education is always exciting and something I am very passionate about. It is wonderful to learn something new every time I go to class, as the curriculum offers a wide range of perspectives on education and leadership.
The best moment for me was Welcome Week, taking part in social events and meeting so many great people from different majors, backgrounds and countries. It was comforting to talk to people who were also away from home, and it eased my loneliness. I made some great friends during Welcome Week, and we have supported each other ever since. Another highlight for me is meeting new people at the Japan Society. I enjoy meeting not only Japanese students but also many other students who are interested in Japan, where I can talk to all kinds of people about Japanese culture. I also appreciate the career support that this society offers.
After graduation, I would like to work as an educational consultant in Japan. I hope to use everything I have learnt in UoB to help Japanese educational institutions and their students. At first, I was unsure of my career path, but I was inspired by the course and the experienced peers I met here.

Born and raised in JAPAN! I did my undergraduate degree at Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo, Japan.
