I'm Olivia, a second-year Social Anthropology and History student at UoB. Here's a bit about me and my uni experience so far!

In college I did A-Level Sociology and History, which I really enjoyed, but I always felt I gravitated towards the human and people sides of the subject, so, after a few internet searches, I found out about Anthropology and it seemed quite interesting - fast forward a few years and now I'm studying it at university.
The pool in Sports and Fitness - when I was younger, I was a regular swimmer until Covid and I stopped and I never went back. When I started at UoB, I found out there was a pool in the Sports and Fitness building, so I decided to pick the habit back up, which gave me something to do with my free time on campus, which was cheaper than my local pool. I also take every opportunity to use the sauna when I can.
Redbrick Market, Digbeth:
My favourite market with independent traders; there's a few jewellery and homeware stalls that always catch my eye. I usually leave with something I never knew I needed.
The Rep, Centenary Square:
One of my goals for 2025 was to get into more theatre and productions and I found the Rep the perfect place to start. They offer a range of smaller and larger, interesting and inclusive experiences. They also offer student tickets, so it's perfect for my budget.
I think I'd like to do a masters, I'm not quite sure what in yet - maybe Anthropology, but I might explore some other areas I'm into (like heritage or journalism and media), so that will be one of my tasks over the summer.
One thing I've realised about university is that it goes very quickly, so take full advantage of the experience and everything you get offered - work experiences, events, societies and more!
So that is the end of my little get to know me, if you would like to know anything more, maybe about my university experience, or things that I have taken part in or any questions, don't hesitate to message me via Unibuddy!
