So, why did I choose to study Biomedical Science? I applied because I was drawn to the wide variety of modules, which means I am constantly learning something new and never feel limited to one area. I also appreciated how the degree opens a broad range of career opportunities. As someone who is still exploring different career paths, it is reassuring to know that this course provides flexibility and accessibility to many future options. My career interests lie in health technology, where I can combine my biomedical background with creativity and digital skills or anything healthcare related.
One of the highlights of my course has been the learning environment, particularly the passion the professors have for Biomedical Science and how approachable and supportive they are. My biggest challenge has been managing the volume of content and revising it effectively, especially as there are no past papers to guide revision. However, over time I have developed study methods that work well for me, allowing me to approach revision more confidently and efficiently.
My experience so far has been both amazing and challenging. University has given me the opportunity to gain a wide range of new experiences and meet so many different people, all of which I am grateful for. Being in a new environment has pushed me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to grow both academically and personally.
I would recommend developing good study habits early on, as the volume of content can feel overwhelming at first. Finding revision methods that work for you takes time, so don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t click immediately. Also make use of the support available, whether that’s professors, opportunities or peers.
