When I started my Master’s in Education with a leadership emphasis at the University of Birmingham, I knew I wanted to make a meaningful impact in higher education. Now, as I am in my second term, my career goal is to work as an advisor or administrator within a university where I can help students navigate their academic journey and support their wellbeing.
My studies have been instrumental in shaping this path. Through my coursework at the University of Birmingham, I’ve explored diverse aspects of education, from leadership strategies to educational policies. The university also offers fantastic career workshops and networking events, which have helped me understand the different roles available in the field of education. One of the most exciting aspects of my programme is my dissertation research. It’s given me the chance to dive deep into a topic I’m passionate about, further refining my career aspirations. As I am aiming to work in higher education after graduation, I have chosen to focus my research on wellbeing in university students. Specifically, I am planning on investigating the effectiveness of the Personal Academic Tutor system here in the UK.
What excites me most about my future career is the opportunity to give back to the field of education—one that has supported me throughout my own academic journey. University can be both an exciting and challenging time for students, and I want to be there to guide and encourage them. I’m also eager to keep learning and growing, discovering where my career in education will take me.
If you’re wondering where your degree might lead, know that every programme at the University of Birmingham opens doors to various opportunities. Your studies will help you develop the skills, knowledge and experience you need to help discover and develop a fulfilling career. The possibilities are endless!
