My favourite things about my Vale accommodation

Student Vidhyasree shares her favourite things about living in The Vale accommodation.

The lakeside at The Vale

Living away from home for the first time, my accommodation indeed played a huge role in my university experience as an international postgraduate student. There were definitely a few things that made the experience special, and that I just loved about my student accommodation at The Vale…

Having my own space

University can get busy, so having somewhere to come back to after lectures and relax made a huge difference. I (eventually) loved planning my routines, learning to cook and plan my meals. Working out which cupboard became ‘my cupboard’ in the kitchen and so on.

Flat life

I lucked out with the amazing flatmates I had! Some of my favourite memories happened at my accommodation, which makes it all the more special to me. Kitchen conversations that somehow lasted an hour or even more, movie and game nights filled with a lot of laughter and my most memorable occasions were learning each other's favourite recipes. Sometimes, I’d walk into the kitchen to grab a snack and end up talking for 45 minutes about each other’s hometowns.

Living the Vale life

Staying at the Vale has its perks. The calmness, greenery, and easy access to eateries and supermarkets made everything so much easier. On days when motivation levels were low, having study spaces nearby definitely helped. I also loved how events at the accommodation helped people meet each other and make friends from different parts of the world, while also having fun.

It’s all about the small things

The small things made me feel at home, which made me fall in love with my accommodation even more. I made sure to decorate my room to my liking to get comfortable in a completely new place.

Honestly, my accommodation isn't just somewhere I live. It is a huge part of my university experience and more importantly, my comfort zone. Looking back now, I think that’s what I loved most. Not just the room itself, but everything around it. The people, my routines, and the funny moments. These were all the little things that made my university experience a truly rewarding and memorable one.
