As an international student, I took a lot of time researching universities to pursue my master's degree in education. I knew I wanted to attend a reputable university that would provide me with a strong education in my field. The University of Birmingham is academically renowned and provides ample resources to engage in research and learn from experts in every subject. Additionally, I wanted to find a university that would be supportive and well rounded. The friendliness of the staff during the recruitment stages solidified my attraction to the University of Birmingham. Reading student testimonials online along with watching videos on social media increased my exposure of the school and made it more comforting to come to Birmingham for the first time.

Beyond academics, I have had a really great start to my first year at Birmingham. The student population at the University of Birmingham is incredibly diverse. I have gotten the chance to talk to people from all around the world, which has been really enriching. Joining societies on campus has allowed me to attend fun events such as karaoke, arts and crafts, and movie nights. I also really enjoy how there is always something happening on campus. From artisan markets to guild events to plant sales, campus always feels lively. Plus, the stunning architecture makes the walk to class quite enjoyable!

After graduating, I hope to work in Higher Education in a student support or administrative role. I've learned a lot about the education system as a whole and I want to take what I have learned to help improve student learning and wellbeing at universities. My time at the University of Birmingham has been extremely rewarding and I know it will help support me in paving my career journey.
