My Journey to the University of Birmingham
An Unexpected Adventure
An Unexpected Adventure

When I first learned about the University of Birmingham online, I was captivated by its red brick buildings, rich history and the QS rankings. After carefully studying the Master in Public Administration (Human Resource) curriculum, I was drawn to its international perspective and innovation approach. Though thousands of miles away, I could already envision an exciting academic journey.
To be honest, the biggest reason why I chose the MPA (HR) major of the University of Birmingham is that compared with other universities like University of Southampton, the MPA major at UoB is larger, more systematic and complete. MPA majors include MPA, MPA (Human Resource) and MPA (Finance).
The Courses exceeded my expectations as it gave me a deep understanding of Human Resource Management. Although I did not join any clubs, the group discussion projects and exchanges among international students provided me with rich cross-cultural learning opportunities.
Meeting with students from around the world, we shared academic insights and exchanged professional experiences. These interactions expanded my global perspectives and revealed that Human Resource Management is a truly global field.
At first, I just wanted a master’s degree to make me more competitive in employment, but now I see the strategic significance of HR in organizations. After graduation, I plan to work as an HR manager in a company that focuses on employee development and transform theoretical knowledge into practical organizational change strategies.
To the students who are about to choose the University of Birmingham, I just want to say: here is not only a place to study, but also a springboard to pursue your dreams. Believe me, this will be the best chapter of your life!
