Top Tips for Commuters:

  • Do your research on routes and modes of transport, I discovered a better bus route after several months after freshers! (we have our own train station, several bus services, walking and cycling routes)

  • Bring travel cups with teas/coffee or hot chocolate- you can get cold or hot water from taps around campus!

  • Packed lunches can save money, you can heat meals in microwaves around campus, hot soup is perfect for winter months!
  • Track buses/trains online to avoid waiting or missing buses (bus.org, Google Maps)
  • Check ticket packages for student discounts or buying online
  • Listen to podcasts or educational content on long journeys, or take the time to enjoy music, tv, or books!
  • Ask others if they travel the same way as you, a travelling buddy is great!
  • Get off a stop early to get some steps in, adding exercise can help improve mood and make you feel positively towards commuting
  • Check the weather for the day! I always forget to bring waterproofs and regret it!

Most importantly, don’t worry.

Commuting can be unpredictable sometimes and delays are not in your control.

If you are unable to attend or are late due to traffic/transport issues it’s okay! Email your tutor and do your best to catch up on missed content.
