Transitioning from A-levels to University

For my A level studies I took Politics, Sociology, Economics and EPQ. I thoroughly enjoyed all three and so when it came to my degree, I chose to study Policy Politics and Economics here at the University of Birmingham, complimenting my A levels well.

Because I was used to a multidisciplinary style of teaching from sixth form, I feel this helped me settle into my multidisciplinary degree, which in my experience made the transition a lot easier and familiar!

One thing that I found nicer regarding the teaching style at university versus my experience at A levels was not having any essay exams and instead having the freedom to write and research essays in my own time! Additionally, even when I have had maths exams as part of the economics segment of my course at university, I have only had one or two per module, which is a nice contrast from the large number of exams you have to sit for at A levels.

Overall, I didn’t find the transition from A levels to degree level too challenging, although I definitely found my multidisciplinary degree to have helped with this!
