UOB Clubs: Where Passion meets Community

Here's a little bit about my experiences with the Bhangra Club, Sitcom Society, and Harry Potter Society.

When I initially arrived at the University of Birmingham, I knew that joining clubs and societies would help me find my community. I signed up for a few that piqued my interest, but I had no idea how much they would enhance my academic experience. Here's a little bit about my experiences with the Bhangra Club, Sitcom Society, and Harry Potter Society:

Bhangra Club

The Bhangra Club was a game changer for me. I was hesitant to audition, but I am very glad I did. The excitement, music, and unity on the team were contagious. Every practice was filled with brilliant colours and thundering music. We'd get together after class to relieve stress and catch up over dinner.

Sitcom Society

Sitcom Society was a haven for anyone seeking a good laugh (or some good pizza). They had regular sessions where we watched episodes of series like "New Girl" and "Brooklyn 99," and they always brought pizza and snacks. It was a great way to unwind and meet others who shared my sense of humour. The discussions following each episode were lively, and it was great to hear everyone's perspectives on the iconic situations and characters.

Harry Potter Society

The Harry Potter Society was a dream come true for my inner geek. One of the most memorable events was the Hogwarts house quiz. We gathered in a room filled with Harry Potter decorations, and everyone was excited to find out which house they belonged to. The quiz had a mix of trivia questions and personality-based choices.

Each club and organisation contributed something unique to my university experience, and I cannot picture my time at UOB without them!
