What I love about the UoB campus

Choosing the right university is a big decision, but I am so happy I chose UoB. I want to share with you what I love about our campus.

The University of Birmingham Main Library

Green spaces

Firstly, let’s talk about the green spaces on campus! When I first visited UoB, I was surprised by how much greenery there was on campus. The Green Heart is the perfect spot to relax in between classes or to have a picnic with friends. There’s also a hidden gem called Winterbourne House and Garden which is just a short walk from the main campus. It’s a beautiful place to visit, especially in the spring when the flowers are in bloom.

Campus vibe

One of the things I love most about UoB is the campus vibe. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, and there’s always something going on. I was nervous about making friends when I first arrived, but the UoB Welcome Team made the transition so easy. They organised lots of events and activities during Freshers' Week, which helped me to meet lots of new people.

Buildings

The buildings on campus are also pretty impressive. The Old Joe clock tower is a must-see and is the tallest free-standing clock tower in the world! The Aston Webb building is another favourite of mine. It’s such a grand and historic building that is now used for graduation ceremonies and other events.

Main Library

As a first-year student, the library has been a lifesaver for me. It’s open 24 hours during term time, which is great for when I need to study late into the night or just want to study somewhere other than my room. The library has a huge collection of books, and there are also study spaces available for group work and rooms that you can book at certain times.

Food options

Finally, let’s talk about the food options on campus. There are so many different places to eat, and the food is delicious! My favourite spot is Joe’s Bar, where you can get some of the best burgers on campus and the library café which has some sensational brownies! There’s also a great range of vegan, vegetarian and halal options available.

All in all, the UoB campus is a special and unique place. From the green spaces to the impressive buildings, there’s so much to love about this campus. I’m so grateful that I chose to study at UoB, and I’m excited to see what the next few years will bring.
