Choosing where to study Public Management was a big decision for me, but when I discovered the University of Birmingham’s dedication to student employability, I knew I’d found the right place. The university’s career support is outstanding, offering free career talks, networking events, and employability workshops tailored for public sector careers. It felt reassuring to know I’d be learning from top academics and getting practical advice to navigate the job market confidently.

One highlight of my time here has been attending these career events. I’ve participated in panel discussions with government officials, joined public sector recruitment fairs, and attended workshops on everything from policy development to civil service interview techniques. These experiences have helped me understand how my degree applies in real-world scenarios and built my confidence in pursuing a career in public service.

Campus life at Birmingham is another bonus. Whether you’re studying in the stunning Old Joe Library, joining a society like the Public Affairs Society, or relaxing on the beautiful Green Heart, there’s always something happening. The balance of academic challenges and an active social life really helped me feel part of a community here.

Looking ahead, these experiences have shaped my future plans. Initially, I was unsure whether I wanted to work in local government or a non-profit organization. Thanks to the workshops and insights from guest speakers, I’ve set my sights on a career in public policy. I feel more prepared and excited about this path than ever before.

For anyone considering Public Administration, the University of Birmingham offers more than just knowledge – it gives you the tools and opportunities to kickstart a meaningful career.
