Why did you choose to study at University of Birmingham?

I chose to study at University of Birmingham, as it is close to home. Even as a child I knew I wanted to go to UoB, and after visiting and seeing how beautiful and majestic the campus was, it only secured it for me!

Did you face any challenges when deciding what university to study at and, if so, what helped you to choose Birmingham?

I had no challenges, as I was set on the University of Birmingham from the start

Did you participate in an Access to Birmingham or Widening Participation Scheme?

A2B and Widening Participation has helped me be able to fulfil my dreams of getting into Birmingham, even as someone from a working-class family. It allowed me to pursue (and carry on pursuing my dreams) as a student here.

What is the highlight or biggest achievement of your time at the University of Birmingham?

The field trip to Rotterdam. It was my first ever time in another country, and I really enjoyed experiencing somewhere new. I was even in charge of navigating our group through Rotterdam via the public transport!

What are your future plans for after you have graduated?

I would love to pursue a career in my biggest interest: public transport! I think a transport planner would suit me very well, as I am very good at solving problems, and highly creative!

What skills and knowledge did you learn at University of Birmingham?

I think the University has helped me with critical reading and writing - being able to pick out the right information from the right sources, and applying that to my work.

How have your experiences as a student helped you to think about your future plans, or secure your job?

I think through finding the right things to read has helped me engage with my interests, and become knowledgeable on my desired career.

What advice would you give to students thinking about studying at University of Birmingham?

There IS light at the end of this tunnel. Just because you're going through a difficult period with several assignments at once, if you think about the exciting times you'll have at the end, it will be worth it!

Finally, is there anything else you would like to share about your time at the University of Birmingham?

Even through several tricky periods in my life, I have really enjoyed being at the University.
