Why I chose to live in Tennis Courts
Choosing accommodation at the University of Birmingham can feel overwhelming, but here’s why Tennis Courts (En-suite) stood out to me as the perfect choice.
Choosing accommodation at the University of Birmingham can feel overwhelming, but here’s why Tennis Courts (En-suite) stood out to me as the perfect choice.

Tennis Courts is a very social accommodation area at the university, with lots of people you meet on your course or in societies likely to be living there, so it’s a great way of connecting with the people you meet in your free time, and maybe even meeting your future housemates!
You’ll be living with anywhere between 3-5 other people, which is on the lower end for most accommodation here at the university, but that doesn’t mean you can’t speak to the people in and around your block also. It’s a great idea to knock on your neighbours’ doors in the first few days to introduce yourself!

The kitchen area is a lovely space, with large windows that allow in lots of natural light. Big, comfy sofas are a great way of relaxing outside of your room, and you could even invite some friends over for a movie night. As for the rooms themselves, I consider them very spacious in comparison to those at other universities which I visited, with a small double bed which just adds that little bit more comfort to your first long experience away from home.
Smart storage comes in the form of a pull-out wardrobe, with baskets and shoe-holders underneath, as well as three drawers opposite to store away anything else you may have with you – it’s up to you to keep things tidy though! The en-suite bathroom is perfect for that little bit more privacy; it’s easy to clean and means you won’t have to be cleaning up anything that isn’t yours in the first place…

The Tennis Courts are one of the most popular options, so it’s important to apply as soon as possible so you’re not left disappointed.
Overall, Tennis Courts is a friendly, spacious and comfortable accommodation option which you should absolutely consider upon accepting your offer at University of Birmingham, take it from me, I’ve had the best time here and wouldn’t have changed a thing!
