A week in my life living and studying on campus

Living in halls during my first year provided me with the perfect balance of living independently while being surrounded by other people going through the same experience.

University life can be so fun, busy and exciting; however, it is a change from being at school and living at home. Living on campus in halls during my first year provided me with the perfect balance of living independently while being surrounded by other people going through the exact same experience. To shine a light on how great living and studying on campus can be, I thought I might share a normal week in my life from my first year.

Monday:

The start of the week was always marked by a 9am Lecture (I'm sure the lecturers did this purposefully!) I would then head back to my halls and go and do my weekly food shop for all the meals I had planned the previous night. Once back from my food shop, I would either make some lunch to take to campus or eat some food in my flat. I would then head to campus for a seminar, after which I would go to the gym and then stay on campus to work in the library until choir that evening. After choir, I would walk back with friends to the Vale, where we all lived, eat some food and head to bed.

Tuesday:

Tuesday would often start early, with rowing early in the morning. After rowing, I would head to another lecture and then head back to my halls mid-morning. I would often use my time on Tuesdays to do any clothes washing and chill out until I left my halls again to head to strength and conditioning. If I didn't have any pressing deadlines, I would head back home after strength and conditioning eat dinner and get an early night ahead of a busy Wednesday.

Wednesday:

Like Tuesdays, Wednesdays would also start early with some rowing in the sports hall followed by a seminar. I would then head home to grab a quick lunch and head back out to go rowing down on the river in Worcester with the University of Birmingham Boat Club. We would then drive back to Worcester, change and eat quickly and then head to someone's house before sports night, the most important week of the night. Sports night involves going out in your sports teams and dressing up each week in a different theme. It is always a laugh and so much fun.

Thursday:

Thursday often started slower, especially if I had gotten in quite late after sports night. I would head to a lecture after lunch and then come home, chill and get an early night.

Friday:

Friday often involved finishing any work from the week and getting ahead of the work from the following week. I very rarely had any lectures or seminars on Fridays. However, I would often head onto campus to work in the library or one of the other study spaces. Some Friday evenings would involve going for drinks with friends, while others would result in an early night ahead of rowing on Saturday.

The Weekend:

The weekend involved a lot of rowing on Saturday back down at Worcester. If I wasn't rowing on Sunday, I would spend Sunday getting work for the next week done, washing any clothes, planning next week's meals, going to the gym, and then relaxing.

Overall, my time was often split between being in the centre of campus and being on the vale. It was always so much fun, and I always feel very lucky to be able to spend so much time surrounded by such a stunning campus.
