School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences

We are interested in finding new ways to understand and support the physical activity/sport needs of individuals and communities ranging from: children to older people, elite athletes to sedentary adults, and healthy participants to those recovering from injury or living with chronic diseases.

Our degree programmes offer you unrivalled opportunities to learn about the science of exercise, physical and mental health, sport participation and performance, and motor control.  Combining academic and scientific study with real-life experience in community settings, our programmes are designed to ensure that you graduate with the knowledge, skills and motivation to lead in a range of contexts. At Birmingham, we believe that understanding the science behind sport and exercise not only enhances the performance of elite athletes, but also helps address some of the world’s greatest societal challenges, such as obesity, physical inactivity and unhealthy ageing. Join our world-leading sports science community and unlock your potential.
