Stories from the Vaults: Phil's Story

Phil Davis MBE was born and brought up in Birmingham and left his memory on our memory postcards at The Exchange.

"Mum and Dad banked with ‘The Municipal’. I was brought into the Head Offices on Broad Street as a 10-year-old in the early 60s when Mum wanted to check the savings account.

I remember the distinctive key symbol on the heavy metal money box, or home safe, that we had. It was so heavy and impenetrable that it would have made a good doorstop!"
