Jonathan Boff talking to alumni

On Tuesday 13 May 2014, alumni and supporters of the University attended the third annual Birmingham Heroes Lecture featuring Dr Jonathan Boff, Lecturer of History and Director of the Centre for War Studies, at the Army and Navy Club in central London.

Hosted by Professor Michael Whitby, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Head of the College of Arts and Law, Dr Boff explored some of the controversial debates about the origins of the First World War. Attendees were invited to participate in a fascinating Q&A session with Dr Boff.  Following the lecture, guests had an opportunity to meet and network with each other over wine and canapés.

50% of each ticket sold was donated to the University's new library project.  Through this generous support, £580 was raised.  This donation will help us build one of the most ambitious libraries in UK higher education, which will transform our campus to ensure that our students, staff, and wider community have a facility that serves their changing needs, exceeds their expectations, reflects the status of their institution, and is a source of pride for decades to come.
