Ancient Mediterranean maritime routes, countering radicalisation of young people, actor training in Revolutionary Russia, the perception of colour and form in the disordered mind, and the turbulent events of 1968 are to be investigated by academics from the College of Arts and Law thanks to funds awarded through the British Academy/Leverhulme Small Research Grants scheme.
A total of nearly £40,000 has been secured and the six projects will be:
- Mantha Zarmakoupi (Classics, Ancient History and Archaeology) – Tracing Aegean maritime routes: underwater survey around Levitha, Kinaros and Maura (central Aegean Sea) (£10,000)
- Katherine Brown (Theology and Religion) – Youth Workers, Religion and Countering-Radicalisation Duties (£7,111)
- Rose Whyman (Drama Studies) – Performer Training and Science in Revolutionary Russia: Meyerhold, Eisenstein and Biomechanics (£7,120)
- Will Davies (Philosophy) – Colour and Form in the Disordered Mind (£7,637)
- Emma Wagstaff (Modern Languages) – 1968 in Reviews (£7,967)
Some of the projects have already started and the rest will get underway next year.
