The University of Birmingham will support the Spring 2019 cohort of the Advance HE Leading Transformation in Learning and Teaching (LTLT) programme. The University will serve as a 'live case study' where programme participants can share their expertise and ideas to help develop a project taking place at the host institution.
Professor Nicola Wilkin, Director of Education, College of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Birmingham said: “As an LTLT alumna, the benefits from the networking, and the opportunity to problem solve education challenges with colleagues from outside my discipline and institution was very valuable, so I’m looking forward to the opportunity of sharing our ‘Summer Spinout’ internship model during the programme.
“Summer Spinout enables us to create quality, at scale, online education materials in partnership with students and for their peers, and we're looking forward to further developing it during the programme with the help of colleagues from other institutions."
Doug Parkin, director of the Leading Transformation in Learning and Teaching programme said: “This unique programme brings together contemporary ideas on leadership, transformational change, learning and teaching, and engagement in higher education into a single coherent offering, and the process of collaborative enquiry that is the basis for the live case study models perfectly the powerful learning that can arise from skilfully combining these key areas.
Leading Transformation in Learning and Teaching enables participants to enhance the skills, approaches and insights needed to lead course and programme teams through processes of transformation and innovation. The programme has been developed for individuals with an interest in curriculum design and the transformation of learning and teaching within their institutions, faculties or departments.
Advance HE supports universities in putting institutional strategy into practice for the benefit of students, staff and society. Formed in March 2018 following the merger of the Equality Challenge Unit, the Higher Education Academy and the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education, the organisation.
