Dr Ben de Laune (School of Chemistry) was interviewed by The Naked Scientists for their podcast about a new type of surface coating developed by Harvard University researchers which, when applied to steel, renders it "slippery" to a range of biological agents and liquids. The Naked Scientists produce a wide variety of podcasts discussing cutting edge research, this edition aired on BBC Radio 5 Live this week.
Professor Kai Bongs (School of Physics and Astronomy) was interviewed in the Financial Times about the ‘spooky’ effects of quantum mechanics. Professor Bongs also spoke to The Times this week about the potential for huge savings in construction projects with the use of gravimeters which measure tiny changes in density, enabling us to “see” below ground.

Professor Bob Stone (School of Electronic, Electrical and Systems Engineering) was featured in an article by the Torquay Herald Express about his involvement in the Dartmouth Mayflower 400 Virtual Reality project which will commemorate and celebrate the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower in 2020.
Izabela Gladkowska Balewicz (School of Chemical Engineering) was interviewed by the Polish publication Gazeta Wyborcza about her research, manufacturing low fat foods which look and taste more like their full fat counterparts.
