Drone Soc

As of February 2016 the University of Birmingham and the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences has an exciting new society with a focus on unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones. The Drone Society is just getting off the ground (pun intended!) at the moment, but when we’re up and running we hope to operate and maintain a small fleet of drones for racing, aerobatics, aerial photography, and anything else our members choose to innovate. We’ll be holding weekly building and flying sessions for our members from the summer term, and will organise public sessions a bit further down the line so do keep a look out for these. Our core membership is currently comprised of postgraduate students with the skills and expertise necessary to get a drone off the ground but all students are welcome from any discipline. If you’re reading this wondering if alumni can join then wonder no further, we offer alumni membership to anyone who is interested.

At this early stage in the Society we are keen to hear from anyone who works with drones, either professionally or personally. If you would like to come and talk to us about what you do, or if you just want to get in touch, then email eps-community@contacts.bham.ac.uk. We’d love to hear from you!
