On Wednesday 12 June 2019 the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences held its sixth annual EPS Societies’ Awards.
Almost 1,000 nominations were received from students, staff and alumni from across the College, and even several from outside of the University who have been working with our societies, such as local school teachers and companies.
Mark graduated with an MEng Civil Engineering in 2013 and now works for Laing O’Rourke and Murphy Group Joint Venture on the new Curzon Street Station for HS2. Away from the office he is the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Future Faces President for 2019, and a huge advocate for STEM engagement. Mark is one of our most prolific alumni ambassadors and can regularly be found on campus working with our societies, Careers Network and Alumni Office.
16 trophies were awarded during the course of the night to raptuous applause and increasing excitement as we headed towards announcing the coveted Society of the Year. Huge congratulations to everyone who was nominated, shortlisted and, of course, to our very worthy winners!
We also held a charity raffle raising money for Antimicrobial Resistance Research undertaken here in the University's School of Chemical Engineering and Institute of Healthcare Technologies. We are proud to say that on the night we have raised £728 for the cause!
