EWB-Logo-New

Engineering Without Borders had a very successful Freshers Fair and our society is continuing to excel with our new committee endeavouring to make us as approachable as possible - we’re not just made up of engineers! We are also trying to get more social activities organised in addition to our usual weekly meetings in the Learning Centre on Monday evenings, with an upcoming trip to Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market which will be great fun!

In November we hosted our termly Pear Jam event with live music (including guest stars from the Jazz and Blues Society and the Live & Unsigned Music Society), a charity raffle and a bake sale. All money raised on the night went towards EWB and the outreach work we do in schools.

Keen to build upon these activities, next term we will be having a talk on outreach by Jon Wood, Byrne Outreach Fellow in the School of Chemical Engineering. This promises to be a riveting presentation and is a really good opportunity for us to have our questions answered and find out new ways of getting involved in addition to the STEM Ambassador role that we promote.

Going into the New Year we shall be planning our annual trip to the Centre for Alternative Technology. It was excellent last year and shall be open to all students in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences.

Stay tuned for our announcements through Facebook on our group Engineers Without Borders – Birmingham!
