Applications for the 2021-2022 academic year in the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Topological Design are now open.

We are pleased to announce that we are accepting applications from suitable candidates for fully funded PhD studentship in our PhD with Integrated Study programme in the CDT in Topological Design.  This is an interdisciplinary programme allowing students to work with colleagues from across the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences and beyond, on exciting research projects in topology, topological optimisation and related fields.  The CDT also offers the opportunity to work with industrial partners through a three-month internship completed during the programme, and in some cases through collaboration on co-funded research.

Applicants to the CDT should have:

  • an undergraduate degree in Physics, Materials, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related disciplines with at least 2(i) honours or equivalent.
  • an interest in interdisciplinary sciences and engineering, with enthusiasm for communication.
  • demonstrated mathematical ability.
  • no prior knowledge of Topological Physics is required.
