Professor Paul Jackson, Professor of African Politics and Director of Research in the College of Social Sciences at the University of Birmingham, has been awarded a Fellowship of the Academy of Social Sciences.
We are delighted to announce that Paul Jackson, Professor of African Politics and Director of Research in the College of Social Sciences, has been awarded a Fellowship of the Academy of Social Sciences.
Professor Jackson is one of just 65 new fellows this year made up of academics, practitioners and policymakers across the social sciences, who have been recognised for the excellence and impact of their work using social science for public benefit. This includes substantial contributions and leadership in various fields, such as higher education, social, economic and environmental policy, government, law, charitable foundations and think tanks.
Professor Jackson, whose background is in governance, conflict and peacebuilding in countries emerging from war, already holds a number of roles including being a member of the Advisory Group for Conflict, Crime and Security research, the ESRC College and the Folke Bernadotte Academy Research Group on Security Reform. He is also the Programme Director for the British Academy Sustainable Development Programme, a member of the United Nations Committee of Experts in Public Administration and is a Senior Security and Justice Adviser to the UK Government.
