Student ID card and Proof of Study

Your student ID card proves that you are a student at the University and gives you access to buildings and services including Meal Plan and the Library.  You can also access documents to prove your student status, if needed.

Getting your ID card

You need to complete Online Registration (including uploading a suitable photo) before you can get your student ID card.

If you are a new student with a home address in the UK and complete Online Registration by the deadline of Sunday 3 September, you will receive your student ID card in the post. If you live outside the UK, or complete Online Registration after the deadline, you will be able to collect your student ID card once you arrive on campus.

Welcome Registration Hub

If you have not received your ID card in the post because you are an international student, you completed Online Registration after Sunday 3 September, or your ID card didn't arrive in time, you will be able to collect it from the Welcome Registration Hub. We'll confirm details closer to Welcome.

Getting a proof of study letter

A proof of study letter confirms your student status at the University, and can be used when opening a student bank account or applying for council tax exemption. Both new and returning students can view, download and share these online.

Returning students

Your ID card is valid throughout your programme, so you don't need to request a new card unless yours is lost, damaged, or the information on it has changed. If you need to request a new ID card for one of these reasons, you can use the online request form.
