Plan your Welcome experience

Our Welcome activities are designed to help you settle in and feel at home, no matter how far you've travelled. Discover what's on offer and start planning your own Welcome schedule.

You won't be able to attend everything, so think about what's important to you! Remember to prioritise attending your programme induction sessions and plan to attend a Right to Study check (for international students).

Supporting you

Starting university brings a whole new set of opportunities and challenges. We're here to support you, whether it's your first time studying as an undergraduate, or you're taking your next steps in a postgraduate degree.

Our support covers academic, wellbeing, and specialist needs. Take time to understand what's on offer, even if you don't need it right now.

Our tips and advice for parents and carers of new students

We know that for many new students, their parents/carers and family play an important role in their transition to University. We've pulled together some information to help you support your new student and understand what to expect as they navigate their new student life, whether they will be commuting to campus or living in accommodation.

What happens after Welcome?

Welcome Week is just the beginning! Once teaching begins, there's still plenty to help you keep settling in.

Your teaching timetable

Teaching for your modules (for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught students) begins on Monday 28 September. This is when your academic timetable will begin. You can access your timetable through the MyUoB app from early September. Make sure to check it regularly.

Students starting at other times of the year should check their MyUoB app and look out for information from your department and School.

Staying in touch

Teaching begins on Monday 28 September and we'll start to move into our normal routines. As a student, you'll receive our Brum Bulletin newsletter fortnightly during term-time, with all the latest news, updates, and useful advice. Make sure you look out for it!

Our student intranet is your place to find the information you need and you can check events and activities on our What's On for Students page. It's never too late to get involved, try something different, and meet new people.
