BTHL Extended reality (XR) and video

Man wearing a VR headset.

As well as videographic equipment to support research in digital and experimental humanities, our extended reality (XR) modality allows researchers to explore some of the most cutting-edge technologies available today.

These include 3D immersive environments (Virtual Reality), place-based layering of content (Augmented Reality), and new ways of blending digital and physical worlds (Mixed Reality). Our extensive equipment features:

  • 2 x Varjo XR-4 Series VR headsets (200Hz binocular eye tracking, mixed reality, takes VR environments made with any kind of software)
  • 2 x Meta Quest 3 VR headsets
  • Full face and body tracking
  • Expert academic and practical support

My research closely aligns with interests in digital heritage, spatial representation, and immersive methodologies. I am particularly keen to learn from and contribute to interdisciplinary discussions around technical workflows, data practices, and the ethical use of digital tools in humanities and social science research.
