    Our valued partnership with Leiden University spans all five of our colleges. Through our joint seed fund we continue to develop pathways for collaborative research and education.

  • Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Ukraine

    The University of Birmingham and Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (IFNUL) are joined in a #TwinforHope partnership demonstrating our shared values, commitment and solidarity during the current invasion of Ukraine and beyond.

    We are working together to support Ukraine's constitutional democracy, capacity building for critical infrastructure reconstruction, and cultural exchange through our shared research interest in Shakespeare and Theatre Studies.

Germany

Our partnerships in Germany bring together expertise from industry and academia to address key global challenges and facilitate knowledge transfer. 

  • Birmingham featured in BCCG's Joined in Resilience bulletin

    In the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany's 2026 bulletin, Prof. Tim Albrecht, Director of Global Engagement, sets out why Germany remains Birmingham's leading European research partner — spanning 71 live Horizon Europe projects with German partners, a founding role in the EUniWell alliance, and flagship collaborations with institutions including BAM Berlin and Fraunhofer UMSICHT.
