What is the foundation year and what will be taught?

A foundation year is for those who haven't completed 13 years of education in the British system. It's designed to get you ready for your first year of university.

IGCSEs and similar qualifications to GCSEs in the UK aren't enough on their own for entry into the foundation year. We typically expect qualifications to be broadly equivalent to the UK AS-Level qualification.

What is the difference between the three and four year degree programmes?

Our four-year programmes include an integrated foundation year, which may be required depending on your previous education (for example, if you have completed 12 years of study instead of 13). This foundation year is designed to fully prepare you for your undergraduate studies and the university environment.

We also offer the following integrated master’s programmes, which last four years (or five years if the foundation year is included):

  • MSci Biomedical Science
  • MEng Computer Science and Software Engineering
  • MEng Mechanical Engineering

Where can I find information on entry requirements and other details for each programme?

You can find details on tuition fees, entry requirements, modules, and more on each course page.

Do you accept BTECs?

We accept BTEC Extended Diplomas, BTEC Level 3 Extended Diplomas, and BTEC Subsidiary Diplomas alongside A-levels. To check if your qualifications and grades meet the programme requirements, please get in touch with our Admissions Team.

Can I study in the UK?

The University’s international mobility programme, Go Global, provides students with the chance to study in the UK.

Undergraduate students on eligible programmes* at our Dubai campus can apply to spend their second year on exchange at our Edgbaston campus in the UK. There’s no need to decide this before you apply to our Dubai campus.

*Students on the following programmes are not currently eligible to apply for the Dubai to UK Exchange Year programme as these programmes are not offered by the University’s Edgbaston campus:

For the programmes listed below, the final year or two years are completed in the UK:

  • BSc Biomedical Science (last year in the UK)
  • MSci Biomedical (last two years in the UK)
  • MEng Computer Science and Software Engineering (last year in the UK)

  • BSc Computer Science

  • MEng Computer Science & Software Engineering (if student wants to go in 2nd year, noting the last year is also mandatory in the UK)

This is to maintain the vibrancy of our student cohort and community.

Please note, that students on the following programmes are not currently eligible to apply for the Dubai to UK Exchange Year programme. This is because these programmes are not offered at the University’s Edgbaston campus at present:

  • BSc Business Management with Economics

Is there an application fee?

There’s no application fee to apply to study with us. This applies to both UAE residents and international students.

Do I need my final grades to apply?

No, we do not require your final grades to apply. You can apply with your predicted or first-term results from Grade 12/Year 13 before you receive your final grades. However, your final grades will be required to make your offer unconditional and for you to accept your place.

When should I apply?

It's best to apply as early as possible to secure your place on your chosen programme. Early application allows you to receive support for any pending conditions and ensures enough time to process additional services such as visas, transportation, and accommodation.

When will I receive a decision?

You will receive a decision on your application within 10 working days of your application being received.

If you have not received an offer after this period, or require support with the application process, please get in touch with our Admissions Team.

Please refer to our international pages and view entry requirements and specific information for your country or region.

How much is the tuition fee deposit and when do I need to pay it?

A tuition fee deposit of 5,000 AED is required at the time of accepting your offer to secure your place on the programme.

What should I do if I need more time to decide on my offer?

We would encourage you to accept your place by the date stated in your letter. However, if you do require extra time, please contact us using the details provided within your offer letter.

Why does the offer letter mention the full fees and not the scholarship?

Our offer letters are standard and include the full tuition fees. After the deposit is paid, a scholarship confirmation will be issued, detailing your entitlement, which will also be kept on record.
