HELOS

The Helos is a parallel beam laser diffraction sensor. It is used for particle size distribution analysis. It works by shining a laser beam through a sample and measuring the scattering pattern of the particles. The sample types that can be used for this sensor include powders, granules, suspensions, emulsions, and sprays.

The size range varies from 0.1µm to 8,750 µm. The modular sensor works best when operated with feeding and dispersing systems. For more information and specifications please consult the HELOS brochure (pdf 2447 KB).

QICPIC

The QICPIC uses a pulsed light source to optically freeze particles, whilst a high-speed camera captures particle projections at a frequency of 500 frames per second. The device can be used to characterise particles from sizes ranging from 1µm to 34,000 µm. The Qicpic can be used for particle size and shape characterisation, as well as fibre characterisation.

The device is used in conjunction with a dispersion unit for a variety of samples, including powders, granules, suspensions, emulsions, and sprays. For more information and specifications please consult the QICPIC brochure (pdf 3100 KB).

Malvern Mastersizer 2000

The mastersizer 2000 is a particle sizer that can be used to size particles in a dispersant between the sizes of 0.02 – 2000um. There are two available stirrer units available. The first and most used uses water as the dispersant, the second is an oil stirrer unit.

The mastersizer 2000 uses Mie theory to deliver its results, and therefore the refractive index and absorption properties are required to obtain results. For more information and specifications please consult the Malvern mastersizer 2000 brochure (pdf 832 KB).

Malvern Zetasizer Ultra red

The Malvern Zetasizer Ultra red can be used for particle sizing of particles with sizes between 0.3nm-10um with a minimum sample size of 3ul and for finding the zeta potential solutions with a minimum sample size of 3ul.

The Ultra red model offers Multi-Angle Dynamic Light Scattering (MADLS) technology, greatly increasing resolution. The equipment utilises MIE theory to generate data so refractive index and absorption are needed. For more information and specifications please consult the Malvern Zetasizer Ultra red brochure (pdf 1892 KB)

Bettersizer S3 plus

The Bettersizer S3 plus is a particle sizer which uses an automated dispersion system. It can measure particles between the sizes of 0.01 and 3500um. The equipment combines standard DLS with dynamic image analysis to provide data on both particle size and morphology.

Although MIE theory is used to generate data, the Bettersizer S3 plus has a refractive index function allowing you to measure the refractive index of your sample within the same system. For more information and specifications please consult the Bettersizer S3 plus brochure (pdf 7202 KB).
