Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an offer letter to apply for accommodation?

Yes, once you have received your offer letter and your University of Birmingham student ID (the number found on your offer letter, which usually starts with "2") you can apply for accommodation through the Accommodation Portal.

Please note that you will need to register for an account using the same email address used during the University application process.

Can I apply with a conditional offer?

If you currently have a conditional offer, you can apply given that you know you can provide missing documents (usually an English certificate) and it will meet the requirement.

Can I get my offer letter sooner so that I can book the room I want?

To get the opportunity to secure a place within University accommodation, you will need to complete your application by 31 July 2024.

All students will be contacted by the Student Living team and offered a timeslot to book their room after this date, giving everyone an equal chance to secure the right student home for them. Accommodation is not offered on a first-come-first-served basis.

I'm studying at the University of Birmingham for the Spring Semester. When can I book my room?

As soon as you receive your offer letter, you can apply for accommodation. Applications open in November 2024 for the Spring Semester; the Student Living team will contact you with more information once you have completed your application.

So long as you apply by the specified deadline (usually before Christmas), you’ll be guaranteed a room with us or one of our trusted accommodation partners.
