What can I study?

Choosing Birmingham for your study abroad experience means you will have access to one of the widest range of courses available at any UK institution. Most of our modules or classes are open to incoming exchange and study abroad students, where you will join other UK and International students studying for their degrees.

Module Lists – 2023/24 Academic Year

As a Study Abroad or incoming exchange student at the University of Birmingham, there is a large choice of modules you can take. You can choose modules from the Colleges listed below. If you coming to Birmingham for one year, you will be taking 60 UK-credits per semester (120 UK-credits in total). If you are coming to Birmingham for one semester, you will be registered onto 60 UK-credits in total.

You don’t need to choose your modules at the application stage. After you have submitted your application form to us, we will send you a separate link to the module selection form in which you will be able to indicate your choice of modules from each College. The College (s) you have applied for will subsequently contact you directly to discuss your module selection. Learn more about how to apply.

Liberal Arts and Natural Sciences (LANS) School

Incoming exchange LANS students need to take a minimum of 20 UK-credits in LANS over two semesters or 10 UK-credits minimum for one Semester only. The remaining credits can be taken in other Colleges (apart from the College of Medical and Dental Sciences).
