The Declaration recognises the need to improve the ways in which research is assessed, and since its development in 2012, it has become a worldwide initiative covering all scholarly disciplines and all key stakeholders including funders, publishers, professional societies, academic institutions, and researchers.

Our commitment to DORA reflects the importance we place on inclusive and team-based research and team science, aligned to our wish to support and enhance the career opportunities of all our staff, at all stages in their careers.

Applicants for academic roles should take account of the University’s commitment to DORA. Any evidence provided to support your application should be presented in line with the commitments set out. In particular:

• applicants should not include journal impact factors or their H-index as the University does not use these and therefore will not take them into account;
• applicants should highlight a broad range of research outputs and other contributions, in addition to publications;
• applicants should highlight a limited number of key achievements (which may be based on one or several outputs) and provide a narrative description of their significance and the role they played in the research.
