His article -We should not be conflating liberal democratic values with British national identity - discuses the recent proposal from Michael Gove that the Independent School Standards require schools to actively promote British values. He argues that liberal democratic values such as liberty, democracy, respect and tolerance should not be tied up with the promotion of national identity.
