Saket Gautam completed his MBA International Business in 2014 and has now set up his own business, I Windows Ltd, in London.
What have you been doing since graduation? Could you tell us about the role/s you are currently in and what it involves?
I started my own business - I Windows Ltd - just after completing my MBA. We work as contractors providing aluminium windows and doors for the construction industry. I am responsible for operations, estimating project costs, client relationship, hiring, accounting, and most importantly sales. This means I spend most of time meeting clients and building relationships. The business is growing and we have a team of six full time employees in London now.
Are you still a regular visitor back to the University?
Yes, I have been to Birmingham few times after graduation to meet Paul Adams, the Careers Network ‘Entrepreneur in Residence’, who sponsored my entrepreneurship visa. I couldn't have achieved what I have without the support of Paul and the University of Birmingham.
Are you in regular touch with the friends you made at Birmingham?
Yes, I have been touch with my class mates and friends. We have a Whatsapp group and we try and stay in touch although we are all very busy.
What did you learn during your time at University that you’ve found really valuable since leaving?
Two things that have really helped in my post-MBA career: entrepreneurship and team building.
