The 2nd Midlands Cardiovascular Research Network was held on Thursday 22 November at Aston University.

The Midlands Cardiovascular Research Network is a collaboration of universities that brings together expertise in cardiovascular research. The partners include the Universities of Aston, Birmingham, Keele, Leicester, Loughborough, Nottingham and Warwick, who work together to promote research on key issues in cardiovascular science that impact on human health and well being.

The meeting was held throughout the entire day and consisted of multiple speakers; the keynote lecture was given by Professor Michael Frenneaux, Dean of Norwich Medical School, University of East Anglia. Professors Ed Rainger and Paulus Kirchhof presented and Dr Nigel Drury also spoke about his ongoing clinical trial on paediatric surgery.

A poster session was held during the day with winners announced at the end. Thomas O'Sullivan, a PhD Student from the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences, won Best Poster for Basic Science for his poster titled ‘Imaging actin dynamics throughout ingression membrane system development.’
