Dr Emma Tyler and students studying on LCAHM’s MA Translation programme, have helped to translate a letter dated 25 February 1822 which had been held in the Sandwell Archives.
The translation reveals that Horseley Ironworks in Tipton – founded by civil engineer, Aaron Manby - was involved in the Manufacture and installation of engines used on river based ships in France – and unearths a piece of Black Country history from nearly two centuries ago.
