On 25th October 2017 IEL Director Professor Martin Trybus spoke at a panel on "mitigating corruption risks of offsets" at the 8th Annual IFBEC Conference held at The George Washington University Law School (GW Law) in Washington DC, USA.

The International Forum on Business Ethical Conduct for the Aerospace and Defence Industry (IFBEC) aims to promote and foster the development of global, industry-wide ethical standards for companies active in the aerospace and defence sectors and organises opportunities for industry and relevant stakeholders to exchange information and best practices concerning ethical business challenges, practices and opportunities.

The panel was moderated by Professor Steven Schooner from GW Law and also included Gunilla Stjernevi from the European Space Agency and  Daniel Schoeni, Judge Advocate with the US Air Force. Other panels covered topics such as combatting corruption, human trafficking and defence procurement, international developments in whistleblowing laws, and the Panama Papers. The conference was attended by about 70 delegates from industry, NGOs, academia, and international organisations.
