Dr Suganthi John and Dr Crayton Walker are in Newcastle to deliver teacher training workshops on 'Pattern Grammar in the Classroom' at International House (Newcastle) for DELTA trainees and language teachers.

Pattern Grammar is a corpus-driven grammar of English which describes the syntactic environments of lexical items (see Hunston and Francis 2000). In essence, it is a bottom-up approach to identifying a comprehensive database of constructions across English. Pattern Grammar resources can be usefully applied in the fields of language teaching and lexicography.
