Walaipun Puengpipattrakul, a doctoral researcher in the Department of English Language and Linguistics here at Birmingham, was awarded the first prize in a thesis presentation competition held at Imperial College London.

The 8th Thai Student Academic Conference (SACC-TSAC) took place on 16 February and Walaipun won the prize for the 2019 Best Oral Presentation Award in Behavioural and Social Sciences.

Postgraduate Thai students from many different countries participated in the contest. Her presentation consisted of a part of her thesis entitled “An Investigation into Learning-Teaching English Language Writing Strategies for Thai University Undergraduates” (supervised by Dr Suganthi John). The awarding body was the Royal Thai Embassy and the joint 11th Samaggi Academic Conference and Careers Fair – the 8th Thai Student Academic Conference (SACC-TSAC).
