Dr Catriona Fallow and Professor Graham Saunders (Drama and Theatre Arts), part of the research team of the AHRC funded Harold Pinter: Histories and Legacies project, are pleased to announce the launch of an extensive online database

The ambition of this database will be to capture every instance of a professional production of a work by Harold in the UK since 1957 alongside a comprehensive catalogue of all broadcasts of his work for radio and television, and films for which he has written a screenplay. In addition, the database includes plays, films and television productions that Pinter directed or acted in. The database to date contains 473 stage productions, 28 films, 54 television broadcasts and 84 radio broadcasts. These include reference to 4,287 people, 1,394 characters and 226 venues.

Of these the following are currently visible to browse: 326 stage productions, 28 films, 52 television broadcasts, 82 radio broadcasts, 1,788 people and 179 venues.

‘Professor Graham Saunders commented “The Harold Pinter database base is the culmination of over two years work between the universities of Leeds, Birmingham and Reading. We anticipate that this resource will prove to be of use not only to dedicated to Pinter scholars, but more widely in the field of post-war British theatre as well as anyone with a general interest in Harold Pinter’s work for  stage and screen. We also anticipate that the database will continue to expand through members of the public sending us details of further UK  professional productions that have not yet been recorded.’
