Helen Breadmore has been awarded funding by the Education Endowment Foundation and Department for Education Accelerator Fund to retrial a whole class paired reading programme with Year 5 classes.

The programme, PALS-UK, uses peer assisted learning strategies to support reading fluency and comprehension. The PALS-UK trial will be delivered by Dr Emma Vardy (Nottingham Trent University) and Dr Helen Breadmore (University of Birmingham) and independently evaluated by a team from Manchester Metropolitan University.
