Apprentices and bootcamp learners studying at the University of Birmingham are benefiting from ‘good’ provision, according to this inaugural Ofsted report published today.
The University of Birmingham educates more than 700 apprentices across nine Apprenticeship Standards, which are accredited and approved subjects, including Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Chartered Town Planning, and Digital and Technology Solutions. Following an inspection in April 2024, the University’s provision for apprentices and adult learners was rated Good overall, including Good across all six areas of inspection.
Studying at the University of Birmingham means joining a diverse community in which you will receive a high-quality academic experience to stretch and challenge at one of the best universities in the world.
Inspectors noted in their report that: “Leaders have developed curriculums that meet local and national skills needs. They collaboratively work with stakeholders to identify the skills needed in specific sectors and then design curriculums that meet these needs. An example of this is in the level 7 advanced clinical practitioner standard where leaders work closely with several national health service (NHS) trusts to ensure the curriculum develops the skilled workforce the NHS needs.”
Professor Deborah Longworth, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) at the University of Birmingham said: “Studying at the University of Birmingham means joining a diverse community in which you will receive a high-quality academic experience to stretch and challenge at one of the best universities in the world. Our apprenticeships are a unique way of combining classroom teaching with real-life work experience, enabling learners to get the best of both worlds.
“Receiving a good Ofsted on our first assessment is a mark of the quality that we provide for learners and employers. We will continue to strive to provide the best quality possible for all our learners and further develop our offering for those wanting to combine work and study through an apprenticeship.”
