Professor Hugh Houghton, Professor of New Testament Textual Scholarship and Director of Birmingham's Institute for Textual Scholarship and Electronic Editing, has been appointed as Editor of The Journal of Theological Studies (JTS).
Published by Oxford University Press and founded in 1899, The Journal of Theological Studies crosses the entire range of theological research, scholarship and interpretation. It is widely recognised as one of the world's leading journals in religious studies, ranked in the first quartile for this domain last year by Scimago, with one of the discipline's highest normalized impact scores per paper (SNIP).
Having served as Assistant Editor for the last year, Professor Houghton now joins Dr Graham Gould and Professor Katharine Dell as a full editor of the journal. He said:
I was delighted when some of my early academic articles were accepted for publication in JTS, which I have long considered to be one of the most important journals for biblical studies. I am honoured now to have been invited by Oxford University Press to become a full editor and look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues and the Press to ensure that JTS continues to be one of the best places to publish new research in theology.
Professor Houghton continues to serve as executive editor for the International Greek New Testament Project and the Texts and Studies book series, as well as being a member of the Academic Board of Corpus Christianorum (Brepols).
