Professor Trybus teaches at European Defence Agency Course

Institute of European Law Director Professor Martin Trybus taught at a week-long expert level course for defence contracting officers of the EU Member States.

In November 2024 Institute of European Law Director Professor Martin Trybus taught at a week-long expert level course for defence contracting officers of the EU Member States organised by the Austrian Ministry of Defence for the European Defence Agency every year in a different location in Europe. This year the course was hosted by the Bulgarian Ministry Defence in the Rakovski National Defence College in Sofia. Professor Trybus covered the EU legal framework for defence procurement legislation in two lectures and then led a case study on defence procurement in times of crisis. EU defence procurement regulation has been Martin’s main research interest for over 25 years, and he is the author of the leading monograph on the EU Defence and Security Procurement Directive: Buying Defence and Security in Europe(Cambridge University Press, 2014) translated into Chinese in 2017. Martin has been teaching on this course since the beginning in Vienna 2016, Stockholm 2017, Maribor 2018, Zagreb 2019, Rome 2021, Amsterdam 2022, Larnaka 2023, and now Sofia.
