The Complete University Guide 2027 league table rankings have seen the University of Birmingham continue its upward momentum, rising two places, from 14th to 12th, placing it firmly as one of the best universities in the UK.
Each year, the Complete University Guide publishes its UK university and subject league tables to help prospective students make informed choices about their future, including those weighing up late decisions or exploring Clearing options.
The Complete University Guide league tables rank the best universities in the UK, overall and in 74 subject areas.

The improvement in ranking for the University of Birmingham follows several strong performances by the university over the past year, including a rise of four places in the overall QS rankings to 76th in the world. In the QS World University Rankings by Subject, six subjects are among the Top 50, with a further 20 in the top 100.
In the latest National Student Survey (NSS), the University of Birmingham outperformed the higher education sector, with an improvement of 4.2% across the average of all institutional questions, compared to a sector average of 1.9%.
This latest positive result reinforces Birmingham’s position as a world-leading institution, leading world-changing research and offering the highest-quality education.
